Nominated for the ZKB Patronage Prize 2016
Are girls allowed to climb trees? Are boys allowed to play with dolls? In her dance piece for children, the Swiss choreographer Tabea Martin raises a number of colourful questions on gender roles. Two male and two female dancers play around with clichés, rebellion and adaptation. They switch roles, laugh and fight until the borders between male and female become blurred and everyone is free to decide which colour to wear. In 2016, Tabea Martin won the Canton of Basel-Land’s cultural prize, earning praise for her projects, which «impress with humour and intelligence as well as with great choreographic skill.» (kdi)
