Hanoi Stardust
Hip hop and classical ballet? Arco Renz has been investigating modern dance forms in Asia for years. In 2012, he was awarded the ZKB Patronage Prize for «Crack» which he had created in Cambodia. In «Hanoi Stardust» he explores the clash between two traditions of dance, both of which are well-established in Vietnam. His three-part show consists of an energised solo performance by street dancer Nguyen Duy Thanh, a highly accomplished quintet of principal dancers from the Vietnam National Opera Ballet and a modern dance solo by the agile performer Khai Ngoc Vu. «Hanoi Stardust» reflects the global awareness, verve and demanding expectations of modern Vietnam.
